3rd Class – Ms. Herron Rice

Ms. Herron Rice’s 3rd Class are in Room 13.

3rd Class have been working so hard in room 13, here is a snapshot of some of the exciting activities we have been doing!

We really love science in room 13 and each week we do lots of exciting experiments. We carried out a liquid race to test the velocity of different liquids. We discovered that oil had a higher velocity than syrup, shampoo and even honey.

We also carried out lots of experiments to see if heat effected different materials.  We found out that wooden spoons are the best for cooking with as the heat doesn’t travel through the wood very much. We also discovered that butter melted much quicker than candle wax, sugar and even chocolate! In our latest experiment we tested different materials to see which was the most absorbent- the answer is kitchen roll!

In Geography we had lots of fun making our very own weather station!

In Gaeilge, we have been learning about Mé Féin and An Scoil. We love playing games and watching the clips on Bua na Cainte.

We are super lucky because Ms Mernagh comes in to help us with English. We have been working very hard on our writing skills. Here are some samples of our recount writing we did about “Our Favourite Trip”

We took a break from addition and subtraction in Maths to learn about 2D Shapes. Here are some we made ourselves from lollipop sticks.

We have been learning about data this week. This is a pictogram of our favourite fruits. Yummy!
